As there hasn't been any official news regarding Guild Wars 2 in a while, let's talk Comic-Con!
ArenaNet will be present at 2011's Comic-Con! They have various plans ready.
The Booth
Fans will have the chance to talk to a couple ArenaNet staffers like Concept Art Team Lead Kekai Kotaki, Lead Content Designer Colin Johanson and other artists and devs at the NCsoft Booth (#5345). And of course try out Guild Wars 2! The full schedule for the booth.
NCsoft San Diego Meet and Greet
On the evening of Friday, July 22, NCsoft will be hosting the NCsoft San Diego Meet & Greet. However it's limited ticketed, only for the biggest NCsoft fans. The only way to get a ticket is by visiting the NCsoft Booth (#5345) and speak the secret code to someone from the staff (Little catch; you have to be 21). Check out Guild Wars 2's twitter account, you never know if they reveal the code on there. ;-)
Alienware Mobile LAN Tour
For those that were too late for tickets, but would still like to join in the fun, visit the Alienware Mobile LAN Tour at Petco Park at the D1/D2 parking lot. It’s a big customized H1 Hummer stocked with PCs for you to play Guild Wars 2 on – and perhaps they'll even have giveaways and activities. Check it from July 21-24.
The Panel
ArenaNet devs and artists will be conducting a panel on Saturday to give attendees a deeper understanding of Guild Wars 2. In their panel, Rethinking the Online RPG: How Guild Wars 2 Explores New Dimensions in Social Gaming, they’ll take a look at how Guild Wars 2 is re-thinking MMO conventions and answer your questions. It all happens on Saturday, July 23 from 2PM to 3PM in Room 23 ABC.
It’s going to be a busy weekend!

Fan Artwork: BEE Good
Thank you Secret Agent Cat for another beautiful drawing! This should represent a Sylvari Thief, but by all means, make your own conclusions. ;)
The details on this picture are amazing, I adore the little cut-like things on the 'skin' to represent their origin(You know, trees).
Then the sword, you could say it's a sort of rapier or smallsword(Not sure if those names are correct, Google Translate is full of win). It looks like the hilt exists out of a carnivorous plant and maybe some roots. What about the actual blade part? Is it a sort of tongue or a root perhaps? All in all, it looks awesome.
There is also a picture of a beegun in more detail
So, a gun that shoots angry bees at your enemies, that can only be a success! And look at the little bee in the drawing, on top of the gun, it already loves it. Come on ArenaNet, you know what to do.
I did not make these drawings, nor do I own them. Please visit http://secretagentcat.com/2011/07/02/bee-good/ for the original post of these drawings.

Guild Wars & Guild Wars 2 Costume Competition at gamescom 2011 – and an Additional EU Show!
Today, the official ArenaNet blog posted about the GW & GW2 Costume Competition at gamescom on Sunday, August 21st. Everyone is encouraged to show off their awesome Guild Wars costumes or to share their Guild Wars 2 excitement by creating an amazing Guild Wars 2 outfit!
I personally can't wait to see the first Sylvari costumes!
That's not all ArenaNet reported about. They also announced they will be attending Eurogamer EXPO 2011, September 22-25 in London.
What do you guys think, will the Guild Wars community show up with some awesome costumes(maybe in the hope to win some epic prizes ;-) )? Will you be attending any of the ArenaNet Tradeshows this summer and maybe create your own costume? Let me know in the comments!
Greetings,
C.A.

Guild Wars 2: William Fairfield on Designing the Dungeons
Another great blog post by www.arena.net/blog, written by William Fairfield!
William Fairfield on Designing the Dungeons
In this blog post, William Fairfield talks about the process on designing the dungeons: which steps have to be taken and who is involved in what parts.
He also talks a bit more about the Ascalonian Catacombs, this week's dungeon in the spotlight, and its creatures. A dungeon called Sorrow’s Embrace is mentioned too, with a little explanation on how it refers to the old Sorrow's Furnace in Guild Wars 1.
A must-read post!

Guild Wars 2: Underwater world
Hey everyone!
2 days ago, June 24th, the official ArenaNet Blog and the Guild Wars 2 website posted about underwater exploring, combat and other underwater mechanics.
Jonathan Sharp Talks Underwater Combat
Breathing underwater
You might wonder, if I go explore underwater, how will I be able to breath and stay alive?
ArenaNet says breathing shouldn't be a thing to worry about while playing the game. In Guild Wars 2, a breathing apparatus will be instantly put all up on your face. This default breathing apparatus will allow you to ignore the fact you normally wouldn't be able to breath. Next to this default, you'll find all sorts of cool gear to help you discover the depths of the ocean.
"There is an exception however; when you're swimming underwater and your health reaches zero (E.g. by combat), you'll go into a drowning state, which functions like the downed state you experience when above water except with some small ability to move.
Personally, I think this is a very good solution to the swimming problem many games have. I personally only have experience from the World of Warcraft swimming, in which you constantly have to watch out you're not drowning, which would result in health-loss and death.
Going underwater
In GW2, you will have the option to swim at the top of the water without diving below or you can go full-on underwater by tilting the camera down and keep moving forward. When staying at the top of the water, you apparently won't be able to fight and you'll be fair game for any enemies lurking below the surface. When diving below the surface, you will automagically (Is this a typo from ArenaNet or was this intended?) switch to your underwater weapon set, skill setup and breathing device.
Why do you think ArenaNet doesn't allow us to fight while swimming at the top of the water? Would it cause too many technical issues to implement it or would it simply be a choice they made? Let me know your opinion in the comments!
Actual diving
If you are being chased by a horde of mobs and you need a quick escape, you'll be able to dive off a cliff to land in the water far below. The second you hit water, you’re ready to go—you switch to underwater mode, pull out your underwater weapon, and start swimming while your pursuers yell and curse!
This should be neat! Do you think the mobs will be able to dive in the water too and follow you?
Swim Around a Little
ArenaNet doesn't want the undersea zones to feel like a secondary experience compared to the land zones. In addition to a wide variety of dynamic events, most dungeons have underwater content, and your personal story will also occasionally take you under the sea.
You’ll discover spectacular sights, diverse challenges, and powerful enemies while underwater in Guild Wars 2. There will be many, many races under the sea to encounter. An example are the krait.
Fighting in a 3D Space
Underwater combat will open up a lot of tactical opportunities for players. Area of effect skills can be used to hit foes on top of one another. You can use skills to force enemies up to the surface, or drag them down to the ocean floor.
Weapons That Work While Wet
Currently there are 3 main underwater weapons, but not all are used by all professions.
Underwater skills
When you dive under, your skills in slots 6 trough 10 automatically change to underwater skills. As you might imagine, not all your land-based utility, heal, and elite skills work underwater, so they've come up with some really cool underwater equivalents of these skills.

We’re not kidding when we say that the underwater experience in Guild Wars 2 is going to be a vital, important part of the game. You can’t experience everything the game has to offer without getting wet, so grab a breathing device and a trident and hit the beach! Life is much better down where it’s wetter, under the sea.
